Blend Saleh born 21 September 1978 is a Kurdish pop singer.
[edit] Life
Blend was born in Anbar (Ramadi), a city in the south of Iraq on September 21, 1978. His parents were forced to live there for political reasons. After a couple of months Blend and his family moved back to Hawler(their original home city) in the south of Kurdistan. Here, he grew up with his parents, two sisters and one brother. His father originally came from Zaxo and his mother from Shaqlawe.
The first time Blend performed, he was only six years old. It was in Hawler in the school where the show was being shot by the Kurdish Kirkuk television. He sang a song in Bahdini and another one in Sorani. At the age of eight, Blend was recommended to start playing an instrument by Tehsin Teha, one of the biggest Kurdish singers. Violin was the instrument of choice for Blend, and he started taking lessons.
As early as eight years of age, Blend began entering different bands in Hawler, with various great musicians.
In 1991 Blend and his family moved to Sweden. This was a great opportunity for Blend to increase his musical experience and make use of his talent as a violinist. Blend started entering various Swedish youth orchestras. However, this was not enough for him, so he soon started working with other Kurdish artists, mainly in Sweden, as a violinist and a composer.
Being interested in science, Blend moved to Uppsala in the year 2000 after high school to study pharmacy at the Uppsala University. He is now a graduate Pharmacist.
Since music has been Blend’s biggest passion, he started producing an album, a mix of vocal and instrumental songs with the violin as a solo instrument. His debut album “Berivan” was released on March 15, 2002. Songs as “Pemekene” and “Berivan” became hits when Blend made music videos to them.
Three years later, in 2005, Blend’s second album arrived, titled “Lê Canê”. It consists songs in Sorani dialect and Kurdmanji as well. Also on this album Blend made instrumental versions of songs, because he didn’t want to forget his career as a violinist.
