Bleak House (1985) was the second adaptation by the BBC of the Charles Dickens novel of the same name. The novel was adapted by Arthur Hopcraft.
It ran for eight episodes and starred Diana Rigg as Lady Dedlock, with Denholm Elliott in the role of John Jarndyce, and Philip Franks as Richard Carstone. In the United States the series ran under the Masterpiece Theatre series umbrella.
This version should not be confused with the 2005 television adaptation, also produced by the BBC.
