[edit] Welcome to the Wikipedia!
Hello, and Welcome to the Wikipedia, Blackvault! Thanks for the contribution over on the Mind control article. Here are a few perfunctory tips to hasten your acculturation into the Wikipedia experience:
- Take a look at the Wikipedia Tutorial and Manual of Style.
- When you have time, please peruse The five pillars of Wikipedia, and Assume good faith, but keep in mind the unique style you brought to the Wiki!
- Always be mindful of striving for NPOV, be respectful of others' POV, and remember your perspective on the meaning of neutrality is invaluable!
- If you need any help, post your question at the Help Desk.
- Explore, be bold in editing, and, above all else, have fun!
And some odds and ends: Boilerplate text, Brilliant prose, Cite your sources, Civility, Conflict resolution, How to edit a page, How to write a great article, Pages needing attention, Peer review, Policy Library, Utilities, Verifiability, Village pump, and Wikiquette; also, you can sign your name on any page by typing four tildes: ~~~~.
Best of luck, Blackvault, and most importantly, have fun! Ombudsman 19:02, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Spam
Blackvault, I would like to inform you that it is usually discouraged to "spam" your own website on wikipedia. That can end up getting the address banned from being added anywhere and your account suspended. The going theory is that if the site is important enough someone else will add it without the owner needing to go to the work. Please review WP:SPAM before continuing. This is a borderline case I admit... since your site might be relevant, but there is a WP:VANITY issue to worry about as well. ---J.Smith 23:41, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

- (you wrote:)
- Hello J smith,
- I am sorry you thought my post was spam... my sincerest apologies. However, as you stated in your message about it's relevance - I am no way trying to mask my identity... I could have easily began a bum account to add the links.
-
- I will reassess my actions, and hope it doesn't result in a ban!

- Thanks for your reply John. I saw that this wasn't some covert-black helicopter op to insert your link into various articles so I didn't "report" you or anything. Just an honest mistake.
- A non-related question: have you been interviewed on Coast to Coast? I seem to recognize the site's name. Maybe it was just a mention by one of the guests... *shrug* ---J.Smith 23:52, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Response to other stuff...
I'll be able to respond to you more fully tonight, but for now check out wikicommons. It's where original material and public-domain documents can be published. (if the government Denys they wrote it then they can't claim copy write on it as well. :)) A link is on the main-page. It's quite interesting to run into you here, btw. ---J.Smith 00:02, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
- Woops... I ment Wikisource. ---J.Smith 00:03, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] The Beatles
I removed your contribution because I felt it didn't belong in a general overview of The Beatles (explained in more detail at Talk:The Beatles). However checking your contributions I see what that addition was really about is promoting your website. Don't do it! You can be blocked for spamming Wikipedia. --kingboyk 22:56, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Policies
Please see WP:SPAM, in particular "How not to be a spammer" point 5: Adding many links to (or mentions of) the same site or product. Also please note that you shouldn't remove warnings from your talk page as it's considered vandalism. At some point when you have lots of lots of messages (hopefully nice ones in the future!) you can archive your old talk threads into an archive page and it'll disappear off the radar. No reply necessary. --kingboyk 23:20, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
- Try to work your contributions into the articles, instead of creating new sections which are invariably rounded off with a link to your site. Have a read of the policies I showed you (and WP:NOR too) first, to get an idea of how we operate. I don't get a kick out of rolling people's edits back - in fact it's a waste of my time - but since it came to my attention that every post you have made involved a link I had little choice but to roll them back (I'm an administrator here, and that's what we do). You're very welcome to contribute and as an expert in your field, that's even better. Just try to work within our framework not against us! :-) --kingboyk 00:19, 5 April 2006 (UTC) P.S. Continually posting on my talk page in an irate fashion is only going to make me more interested in what you're up to. If you go quietly about your business we'll probably never even cross paths again!
[edit] A Fresh Start
I've added a mention to the FBI file in History of the Beatles (see [1]), and used your link as a source. Note how I've worked it into the existing text, not given it undue prominence, and have used your site as a source with a footnote :-) I believe you can work your other references into articles in a similar fashion. I hope that helps. --kingboyk 14:14, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the nice message on my talk page. I'm sorry we got off to a bad start. Let me know if you need any more help. --kingboyk 23:18, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
- Hi! I was just looking through my talk page and came across our previous conversation. I hadn't seen or heard from you since, so I was a little alarmed that you may have marched off in disgust - hence my appearance here! I'm glad to see that's not the case, and that you've been adding to articles and seeking consensus from other editors. That's really terrific and I'm very pleased. If you need any help from an admin at any time, drop me a line on my talk page. Again, apologies for our little run-in when we first met. --kingboyk 17:50, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:Paranormal_Watchers
Hay, I got a project you might want to check out: Wikipedia:Paranormal_Watchers. I've joined it myself. I'm sure your expertise would be well received! ---J.Smith 17:55, 13 April 2006 (UTC)
Hello, I'm one of the founders of this Wiki-project. You may have inquired about govt. activity, said that you have been on Coast To Coast AM. Add the Robertson Panel to the 'vault. This is a govt. protocol designed to ridicule and insult people who have seen UFOs and/or aliens, mainly by having them declared mentally unfit, i.e. crazy, mentally unbalanced, having a screw loose, etc., since shrinks are used and it also states that all UFO groups are to be spied upon. Same thing or similar protocol exists with Project Grudge. The protocol is still in effect. To simplyfy what this is about, it says that," YOU see a UFO, have alien contact, are interested in these forbidden matters, you're nuttier than a fruitcake, or plain crazy.", or you may get attacked, just like a fellow Wikipedian was, who also founded this project. A hacker got into his account here and proceeded to vandalise various articles, trying to have him thrown out. Martial Law 17:53, 14 April 2006 (UTC) :)
J.smith is correct. Your expertise is welcomed here. Martial Law 17:56, 14 April 2006 (UTC) :)
