[edit] G'day!
G'day there, Blackmissionary, and welcome to Wikipedia! Good authors are always welcome on the project, and I hope you like the place and decide to stick around!
Sometimes new editors find it useful to review our "five pillars", all you need to know about editing in "wiki markup", or this detailed tutorial. The stuff we all really need to know is best summed up here: write from a neutral point of view, play nice with others, and don't let the rules get you down. If you have any questions or need any help, my talkpage is always open for business, or you can see Wikipedia:Newcomers help page. Here's a tip to start you off: if you type four tildes (~~~~
) at the end of any messages you leave on talkpages (like this one) Wikipedia will automatically insert your name and the current date and time after your message. Cool, eh?
By the way, I'm going to take a punt in the dark and say you're Australian. If so, excellent! Aussies make good Wikipedians (yes, oh yes, we do). You may be interested in Wikipedia:Australian Wikipedians' notice board, where Australian Wikipedians occasionally meet to try to help coordinate our efforts. Again, welcome to the project, and happy editing! fuddlemark (fuddle me!) 01:56, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Recent edits
Hi mate. The reason behind the first edit was due to the fact that Victorian Premier Cricket is often referred to as the Victorian Premier League, although the soccer league is the most dominant comp with that name so it deserves the title. However, the Victorian (soccer) Premier League is never referred to as "Victorian Premier Cricket", so there is no need to include a link to the soccer league on that page.
For the second edit, I move Peter Moore (Australian rules footballer) to Peter Moore (footballer) due to the fact that there are no other footballers (across codes such as rugby league, soccer, gridiron etc) with that name, therefore it would make sense to use the shortest description. Hope that answered your query. Cheers, Rogerthat Talk
[edit] License tagging for Image:SeagullsDesign.png
Thanks for uploading Image:SeagullsDesign.png. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 01:05, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Black Belt (UE) -!--01.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:Black Belt (UE) -!--01.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Help on the South Melbourne Kit
Thanks... I'm on a bit of a roll with the kits at the moment. Do you mean the "South Through The Ages" post on the SMFC board? That's where I got most of the kit designs from. If you know of any other sources, by all means post the links and I'll add them. Any help is appreciated. Dragases 10:16, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
Nice job on the kit evolution. I have a post saved from smfcboard, with a pretty good estimation of the various kit changes, i could post the relevant parts here if you want. Blackmissionary 08:05, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Johnny Warren
Hi. Regarding this edit, can you please provide some more information on this being an accepted norm? All of the other articles on high-profile soccer players that I have looked at seem to use the standard "football" (except that some articles on Australian players do indeed use that format). I would think that the most likely reason for having it is because Australian articles would default to Autralian rules football (in the same way that American footallers with American nationality have articles calling them "football" players). However, as far as I can see all Autrain rules player article say "Australian rules football" (rather than just "football"). I think that "soccer" would be OK, but "football (soccer)" looks very awkward. It would especially useful if you could point me to any discussions on this. Cheers TigerShark 12:10, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- You're right, i should have mentioned Australia specifically. The Australian soccer wikiproject uses it [1], and this was one discussion on the matter. Blackmissionary 23:05, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Beautiful Sharks
I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Beautiful Sharks, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Get_close_the_pretenders.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Get_close_the_pretenders.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BigrTex 19:46, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Response to CFD concern
I'm sorry that I failed to get the word out regarding the CFD. I don't do many CFDs, so I'm not familiar with the need to tell everyone. My main line of work is AFD, where this is generally not necessary because users who care about an article will usually see it on their watchlist.
I have no opinion on the debate anymore. Feel free to decide things without me. Best regards. Shalom Hello 05:35, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use disputed for Image:LooseScrew.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:LooseScrew.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:34, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] West Adelaide Soccer Club topic!!!!!
Blackmissionary you are obviously from melbourne, you have no idea about the comeback of West Adelaide, we are not an offshoot club, West Adelaide did fold but only on senior level, our juniors were under a seperate constitution and played the very next year as West Adelaide, In 2001 our juniors merged with Adelaide Olympians and became Adelaide Olympic our juniors remained under our same banner with a new name... Adelaide Olympic, in 2006 due to problems with the seniors and juniors on committee level, the juniors decided to revert back to their playing name.. West Adelaide, thus taking out a new nickname the blues, if anyone has a right to be called West Adelaide it is West Adelaide Blues, our juniors have been playing at park27 for 32 years and will be there forever!!!!!! park27 was, is and will always be WEST ADELAIDE HELLAS —Preceding unsigned comment added by WA Hellas (talk • contribs) 04:23, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Deep Duck Trouble (UE) -!--01.png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
-
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
