I am going to be reducing the amount of time I spend on Wikipedia, so if you contact me via my talk page or email, there may be a delay before I get back to you. If you are contacting me regarding an administrative action, please use the talk page, as I have no access to my email during working hours. While I'll still be helping with the admin backlogs and day-to-day work on Wikipedia, I will be spending more time working on Veropedia, as I believe it conforms more closely to the ideals that Wikipedia originally had. I work in an educational facility, and our students are warned against using Wikipedia as a research tool; sadly this is an edict that I agree with.

Wikipedia has moved away from its origins as an encyclopedia, and has moved closer to being a repository of pop culture, trivia and (much as I hate the word) fancruft. An example; do we need an article on a well-known anime series? Yes, undoubtedly. Do we need over 500 articles on it? Obviously, if the project really wants to be seen as a serious encyclopedia, the answer is no. Yet on all subjects, the armies of editors who will attack you should you even suggest that one of their pet articles is non-notable is legion. As Moreschi says, the lunatics have truly taken over the asylum. Add to that the POV-pushers, nationalists, tendentious editors and crackpots who waste hours of sysops and other users' time when they should just be perma-banned as soon as they start their activities, and you have a major problem.

So I'll still be here, but at the moment, Veropedia looks like a more worthwhile use of my time - with the added bonus that Wikipedia is improved at the same time.
