[edit] Dashed vertical line

Phineas is Sirius' great-great-grandfather. Why not then replace the dashed line with two solid line, separated by a box? OneWeirdDude 00:41, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Updated Information

On the Black family tree is here. Phineas was married to Ursula Flint and there's a Potter branch there too. I just ran across this template and I would have inserted, but my template construction abilities are not the greatest. Jtmichcock 02:45, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] MAJOR UPDATE

I have updated the Family Tree.

However more work is needed. - Plau

[edit] Potter, Crouch and Longbottom

Should the Potter, Crouch and Longbottom connections be added to the family tree. - plau

[edit] Update

A slightly updated version is available here. I'd put it in myself, but frankly, that wikicode just scares the crap out of me. Hermione1980 22:24, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

I'll Update it as soon as possible. - Plau

[edit] Too wide?

Um, you might consider making this a little narrower, eh? Or you could split it up into two. OneWeirdDude 19:56, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

How? - plau

Hm, not sure. I may have to get back to you on that. OneWeirdDude 16:44, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
Indeed, the width of this thing is absurd. Something needs to be done with it, because it's throwing things out of whack on individual character pages and making them look like a mess. Resize it, simply link to it, put it (only) on a black family tree article, whatever. Guermantes 06:47, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Very important updates

Check them out, here. --Cryptex 21:49, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nicknames

I realise that Ron, Ginny, Teddy, Bill and Charlie are their more common names, but as this is supposed to be a family tree, and the fact that it gives links, I firmly believe that their names should be listed as Ronald, Ginevra, Ted, William and Charles, respectively. The reason Percy wouldn't be Percival, is because she never gives Percival as his true name, and Percy can stand as a name without any implications otherwise. As for Albus--his first name is most obviously Albus, not Albus Severus. Severus is very clearly his middle name, And if we were to use them, it would complicate the tree way too much. Therequiembellishere 20:05, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] George's Son

According to this interview [1] George married an unknown woman and named his son Fred. Could some one add him, I'm scared to add people. Therequiembellishere 17:01, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Oh, mind you, she said, "[H]e names his first child and son Fred," so he had at least one other child, possibly a girl. Therequiembellishere 17:03, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Woah

Why are Arcturus and Lysandra's kids a generation down? I know it seems weird, but all the Weasley's should be a generation above! Age does not equal what generation you're in people! Could someone please equate these? Therequiembellishere 17:13, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

If there is enough gap between the 3 generations then the younger ones would drop down a generation in the overall family.CSLoomis 23:15, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

I thought that regardless of age, you were in a generation. This is how I see most family trees. Therequiembellishere 00:14, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

No, because there becomes a point that the difference is so much that it is only logical. Although, in this case I am wrong. I looked up an one of the original copies of Rowling's tree and the generation gap happens later. In this case we know that there is a ten year gap from the oldest and youngest Weasley children.CSLoomis 15:50, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Would you mind doing it? I have no idea how. Therequiembellishere 16:08, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
Is there any way you could add some other people? I tried and failed. The tree needs Wife of George, his son Fred Weasley, his Other Children and I tried showing that adding Bill and Fleur's Other Children, but that didn't go over well. Therequiembellishere 16:25, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

I'm scared too to add to family trees. I'm horrible at it too. --TimySmidge 20:52, 31 August 2007 (UTC)TimySmidge

[edit] Male Potter

The "Male Potter" may be James's first cousin, not James himself. So there is no reason to say that he is dead. If it is James, he is obviously dead, but he may be a living relative (more distant to Harry than his aunt and uncle).

[edit] Quit it

It seems odd to have all those weird things next to all the people that are dead. If you want to inform people that these people are dead, write down the birth and death dates (or at least what's known about these dates. I'm removing the crosses. --TimySmidge 15:17, 6 August 2007 (UTC)TimySmidge

I was would write them but as you can see from the above, I'm not familiar with his template. Therequiembellishere 15:54, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Concerning this issue, as we have no confirmation whatsoever about the mysterious "male Potter" being dead, or even being related to Harry's family, please stop adding in the template (no matter how you do it) that "male Potter" is dead, because it's a violation of the "No original research" policy ("original research" being users writing their own thoughts/assumptions in the articles, without backing their statements with reliable sources: no source confirms that the male Potter is related to Harry Potter, assuming in the article that he is, is OR).Folken de Fanel 19:46, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes there are, she said that Harry was the last Potter, that's why he was forced to go live with the Dursley's. Charlus and his family are dead. Therequiembellishere 21:20, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Can you read what I wrote, please ?
No, it has never been said that the "male" potter" was related to harry's family. So it's wonderful if Harry is the last of his family, but as long as there is no confirmation that "male Potter" and Harry are from the same "Potter" family, you can't make assumptions in the articles. We don't know if Charlus was one of Harry's ancestors, thus you just can't assume it because of the no OR rule.Folken de Fanel 22:37, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
Of course he is! She didn't put families like Longbottom, Flint and Bulstrode to not have them related to the characters we know. Charlus and his son are dead. Therequiembellishere 16:10, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
I'm afraid unless you are JKR or you've talked to her, you can't claim anything about her intentions concerning this family tree. You have no proof Charlus and his son are dead, or that we know who they really are. As long as there are no confirmations, don't start assuming things.Folken de Fanel 23:34, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
She (well, Dumbledore) said that the Dursleys were his only remaining relatives, it is stated that all of Harry's ancestor from his parents beyond are dead. His grandparents died of old age. Therequiembellishere 23:53, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
No, it has never been said that the "male" potter" was related to harry's family. So it's wonderful if Harry is the last of his family, but as long as there is no confirmation that "male Potter" and Harry are from the same "Potter" family, you can't make assumptions in the articles. We don't know if Charlus was one of Harry's ancestors.Folken de Fanel 18:44, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Add Astoria Greengrass

Rowling revealed the name of Draco's wife: it is Astoria Greengrass, sister of Daphne Greengrass. Source is here: http://www.time.com/time/specials/2007/personoftheyear/article/0,28804,1690753_1695388_1695569,00.html

Please someone add her, because I do not know how to do it. Lord Opeth (talk) 23:39, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New information from Jo

In the clip from the upcoming ITV documentary JK Rowling... A Year in the Life, Jo reveals that Bill and Fleur have two younger children, Dominique and Louis. Charlie never marries, but Percy marries a woman named Audrey, and they have two daughters, Molly and Lucy. George marries Angelina Johnson, and, in addition to their son, Fred, they have a daughter named Roxanne. Could anyone please add these people to the tree? I tried, but I have no idea how the coding works, so I thought that I'd leave it to someone who knows what they're doing.  :) — Charity (talk) 00:34, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

People who know how to edit these seem to have abandoned us. :-( Give me a link for the interview, please and I'll hunt someone down! Therequiembellishere (talk) 00:51, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
