[edit] Industrial centre
Blackley was a rural community until it became a Manchester overspill in the mid 20th century. It's never been an industrial centre, never mind one of "international status". I think that section ought to be removed completely. ---- Eric 20:25, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
- "It was also an industrial centre of international status. Here is found Avecia, successor to Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) and AstraZeneca. It was in the ICI laboratories that not only dyestuffs but also medical breakthroughs such as the anti-malarial drug Paludrine, and Antrycide to combat African sleeping sickness were discovered. The area is currently being redeveloped with modern housing for the 21st century."
- I've removed that section. ---- Eric 19:37, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Location
How were the coordinates arrived at? They don't seem very near the middle of Blackley? 81.179.54.102 22:00, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Heaton Park
Good old Heaton Park gets claimed by everyone, Crumpsall, Blackley, Prestwich......It's bordered by all these places (plus Simister and maybe Rhodes) but is actually part of the City of Manchester, although I think it was part of Prestwich before it was sold to Manchester Council by the Earl of Wilton.
