Talk:Blackburn (UK Parliament constituency)

[edit] Disambiguation
Can we please consider changing the disambiguation reference from Blackburn (disambiguation) to Blackburn (the town). Anyone looking at this page will have typed in the article title directly or been referenced from a page dealing with the general election. The point is that no one will read this page in confusion as to which particular Blackburn this article is referring to.
There may possible be confusion with Blackburn in West Lothian, Scotland. This could be delt with as follows:
- This article refers to the constituency of Blackburn in Lancashire. For information on the town, see Blackburn

I have now changed the disambiguation header. If you disagree or want to revert the change, please discuss it here. TreveX 19:14, 1 May 2005 (UTC)
- Whatever you do is likely to be overwritten by the WikiProject when we get around to settling upon a standard boilerplate for disambiguation between towns, boroughs, constituencies, and whatnot. There are ... ahem ... quite a lot of articles that eventually will have such disambiguations, and the aim will be for them to be uniform (in part because with Wikinews and Wikipedia combined we are trying to out-do or at least equal the election results coverage of other on-line news services, and thus a uniform approach for readers is a good thing). See Wikinews:Results of 2005 United Kingdom General Election, Wikipedia talk:WikiProject UK Parliamentary Constituencies/Progress, and Wikipedia:WikiProject UK Parliamentary Constituencies/Progress/Example. - Standard boilerplates are all very well, but may not help the user in some cases if it links to a disambiguation page. Many towns return, such as Blackburn, return a single Member of Parliament. Where this is the case, a link from the constituency article to the corresponding town is more useful to the reader than a link to a disambiguation page. TreveX 12:20, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
