[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:B5 blackstar.jpg

Image:B5 blackstar.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Where was the Black Star destroyed?

It was far too early in the war for it to have been the Solar System’s asteroid belt; the Minbari were not near Earth until just before the Battle of the Line. I removed the reference to the Asteroid Belt, but it would be cool if anyone has a better location. — crism (talk) 03:01, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Answering my own question: in “Points of Departure,” the location is explictly identified as the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Kind of dumb, but it’s canon. — crism (talk) 04:06, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] I think it *is* Sol's asteroid belt..

In 'Points of Departure', I seem to remember Sheridan telling Ivanovna that he mined an asteroid field, "Between Mars and Jupiter". Seems pretty specific. Don't know how they got there -- maybe the Black Star was a scout ship.. Warcruiser.. :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Borkabrak (talkcontribs) 16:18, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Few extra comments

1: In a B5 wikia I read, the location and details of this battle is inconsistent across episodes. 'Points of Departure' says the Black Star and 3 support cruisers were destroyed in Sol's Asteroid belt. The "in the beginning" movie has only the Black Star destroyed, and seems to take place in an asteroid belt in a star system far from Sol. 2: I would argue that sending a distress signal in this case was not dishonourable, given that the ship WAS crippled (don't know how long life support would last, practically no weapons apart from the nukes, serious hull damage and nearly no propulsion/engines, etc.), thus he had to send a distress signal anyway. Doing what he did enabled him to survive sending a distress signal. --93.96.197.93 (talk) 00:14, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
