[edit] Updating this page
Would anyone object if I updated this page to reflect the recent events of False Gods that have a huge bearing on the information here?Primarch 01:31, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
I am not entirely sure if Garviel Loken died during his fight with abaddon, if you read the books it says that mortally wounded Space Marines go into a self induced coma where they can lie dormant for months. He wasn't crushed by the initial rubble, and it was a little uncertain wheter or not he was dying, or that he was going into the said coma. I hope its the last ofcourse, its pretty obvious space marines who are still loyal will land on the planet to look what happened. And probably find the loyal dead space marines, and maybe some survivors.
In the first part it says that the home of the Luna Wolves is close enough to Holy Terra that FTL is not needed. Is that possible. The closest star to Terra is a 8 yr round trip at lightspeed. Know what I mean? Perhaps its close enough to not need a Warp ship, but does the Imperium have non-warp FTL, like the Tau?
Loken was killed in the bombardment. At the end of the battle he wakes up trapped in the rubble and is looks up to see the orbitol bombardment raining down. Then the book goes to Horus stating that he has spent to long fighting there and wasted to many men, and he orders the bombardment that he should have used in the first place. (note this is after the virus bombing and firstorm, after the fight between loyalist and traitors on the surface.
So? He very well may have escaped the virus-bombing. Until we have a definitive statement in a GW source, it's all speculation. 189.156.61.200 (talk) 01:52, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Agreed that Loken does not appear to be dead, but in terms of storyline, should be wait and see. What happened to the format of this particular page? Looks very chopppy and harshly edited now. Note about Imperium drive tech and Tau tech. Tau use combination of warp-skipping drives. Similar to skipping a stone on top of the Immaterium but never fully entering it. At least that is how it was explained in White Dwarf. Imperial Warp technology fully enters the Immaterium. Remember the Astronimicon is just a guide beacon and Navigators must guide ships through the warp and also calculate relative destination based off of the signal of the Astronomicon. Like a fixed 3d compass point of sorts which you then calculate how far you are from target destination. If the Luna Wolf home of Cthonia was close to Terra, it would be feasible you could use calculations to make the warp jump necessary without needing the Astronomicon due to relative distance unlike longer warp jumps. However with Warp storms being what they were during the time, only non-FTL techs would make sense until the clearing of the major storms from around Terra with the birth of Slaanesh.
