The cover shows (clockwise from top left): Steve McIlhargey saving a penalty from Scunthorpe United's Graham Alexander in the 1991–92 Division Four play-off final at Wembley Stadium, which helped Blackpool to promotion; Sir Stanley Matthews, "arguably the greatest-ever footballer"; Jimmy Hampson, "the Seasiders' pre-war goalscoring machine"; and Jimmy Armfield, "a great Blackpool skipper".
