blazer is a Canadian indie rock band from Ottawa, Ontario that formed in 2006. The group consists of vocalist Marley "Gay" McRae, guitarist Ronnie Abou-Abssi, keyboardist Cal Cheney, rhythm guitarist Cameron Crompton, bassist Geoff Mckay, and drummer and vocalist Danny Abou-Abssi. McRae is known for his exceptionally exuberant support of the gay community, and his outspoken views on converting straight people to becoming gay by "just trying it once".
The sextet released its self-titled EP in 2007 with Slippery Slope Records. It was recorded by Matt Connell (formerly of Fuck the Facts and Exhumed) and Dave Duchene at Raven Street Studios. Since its release, the EP began receiving extensive airplay on Canadian campus radio and CBC Radio 3, with their debut single “From Rooftop to Rooftop.”
The band is currently working on their first full length album to be released in the summer 2008.
