[edit] Plot
Jake "Tiger" Sharp (Michael Sopkiw) used to be an elite policeman, but when his wife got murdered by a criminal, he went to kill him personally. Because of this, he served eight years in prison. As he finishes his sentence, he decides to go live in a shack in the woods near Florida. Problem is, a villainous redneck gang is doing criminal trouble around, led by nefarious Tom (George Eastman). They go poaching in the forest slaughtering deer to sell them to a sadistic Chinese butcher, kill Tiger's pet doe, rape and murder his daughter, and even murder his two best friends.
Tiger, full of anger and hatred, decides to take revenge and to execute all of them with a special shotgun called the "Blastfighter", a powerful super-weapon capable of firing many different projectiles from a single barrel.
[edit] Critics
- The movie is reminiscent of Rambo: First Blood and seems to be a rip-off, as it was released shortly after the latter and has common plot/filming elements.
- Quentin Tarantino claimed this was Lamberto Bava's best movie.
[edit] Special note
The film was originally planned to be a science fiction film (as one can guess by the title), but complications in production forced this idea to be abandoned and Dardano Sacchetti was commissioned to write a new script. The film had already been announced and being sold under the title BlastFighter, so it was kept the same.
[edit] DVD
In Italy there is a wide screen double disc version of the film available.
