Blanchester is a village in Clinton and Warren Counties in the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 4,220 at the 2000 census.
Blanchester was the home of Clarence J. Brown, Sr., a newspaper publisher who started Brown Publishing Company and Republican politician who served in the United States House of Representatives, Lieutenant Governor of Ohio, and Ohio Secretary of State. His son, Bud Brown filled his father's seat in the United States House of Representatives at his death, and served as Deputy and Acting Secretary of Commerce under President Ronald Reagan.

(39.292314, -83.985769)According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 3.0 square miles (7.8 km²), of which, 3.0 square miles (7.7 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (1.66%) is water.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 4,220 people, 1,645 households, and 1,131 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,424.8 people per square mile (550.5/km²). There were 1,766 housing units at an average density of 596.3/sq mi (230.4/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.70% White, 0.14% African American, 0.17% Native American, 0.36% Asian, 0.02% from other races, and 0.62% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.62% of the population.
There were 1,645 households out of which 35.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.2% were married couples living together, 12.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.2% were non-families. 27.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 3.05.
In the village the population was spread out with 27.1% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 27.3% from 25 to 44, 20.5% from 45 to 64, and 16.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 85.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 80.9 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $35,608, and the median income for a family was $42,018. Males had a median income of $32,088 versus $24,531 for females. The per capita income for the village was $17,112. About 6.9% of families and 11.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 12.4% of those under age 18 and 21.1% of those age 65 or over.
