Blaine County is a county located in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. As of 2000, the population is 11,976. Its county seat is Watonga[1]. Blaine County is the birthplace of voice actor Clarence Nash, the voice of Donald Duck.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 939 square miles (2,432 km²), of which, 928 square miles (2,405 km²) of it is land and 10 square miles (27 km²) of it (1.11%) is water.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 11,976 people, 4,159 households, and 2,865 families residing in the county. The population density was 13 people per square mile (5/km²). There were 5,208 housing units at an average density of 6 per square mile (2/km²). The racial makeup of the county was 76.29% White, 6.65% Black or African American, 8.70% Native American, 0.71% Asian, 0.81% Pacific Islander, 2.86% from other races, and 3.97% from two or more races. 6.62% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 4,159 households out of which 30.80% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.20% were married couples living together, 8.60% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.10% were non-families. 29.00% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.50% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.50 and the average family size was 3.08.

In the county, the population was spread out with 24.00% under the age of 18, 9.10% from 18 to 24, 28.60% from 25 to 44, 21.40% from 45 to 64, and 16.80% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 119.30 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 125.00 males.

The median income for a household in the county was $28,356, and the median income for a family was $34,565. Males had a median income of $26,284 versus $18,619 for females. The per capita income for the county was $13,546. About 12.80% of families and 16.90% of the population were below the poverty line, including 22.20% of those under age 18 and 13.20% of those age 65 or over.
