Blackjack Pizza

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Blackjack Pizza is a Westminster, Colorado-based[1] pizza delivery chain founded in 1983 by former Domino's Pizza employee, Vince Schmuhl in response to the fact that Domino's was the only major pizza delivery company in the Rocky Mountain region.

The first Blackjack Pizza store opened June 29, 1983 in Federal Heights with a second store opening in Greeley by February of 1984. By 1986, Blackjack grew to six corporate stores and one franchisee.

In 1988, Blackjack became a franchisor with the sale of several corporate stores to franchisees. Today, Blackjack Pizza operates 45 stores in four states.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Rod Smith appears frequently in Blackjack commercials. He always wears a blue football jersey with his number 80, although it is never a true Broncos jersey.

Columbine High School shooters Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold both worked at a Blackjack location in Littleton, Colorado before their shooting/suicide in April 1999.
