Black Warrior Basin

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Black Warrior Basin is a geologic area of western Alabama developed for coal and coalbed methane production. The Black Warrior Basin has been developed and in production longer than any other United States coalbed basin.[1] Centered in Tuscaloosa and western Jefferson Counties, the basin is significantly larger in area and production than the Cahaba Basin in Bibb and Shelby Counties to the southeast[2]. The coalbed methane is produced from the Pottsville Coal Interval[3].
