Black Mountain (near Milpitas, California)

Black Mountain is also a peak near Los Altos, California that is part of the Santa Cruz Mountains in the west of Santa Clara County.

Black Mountain (Elevation: 3,951 ft. / 1,204 m [1]) in Santa Clara County, California, is a mountain east of Milpitas, California. To the west lie Poverty Ridge and Arroyo Hondo, and to the south is Mount Day, which is on the same ridge as Black Mountain. The peak is one of the highest in all of eastern Santa Clara County except for Mount Hamilton, Mount Copernicus, and a few other mountains in the Lick Observatory region. The northern half of Black Mountain is shrouded with oak trees, and the southern half is barren. Black Mountain can be clearly seen from most parts of the Santa Clara Valley, including Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Mountain View, and San Jose. The peak is also visible from the Mount Hamilton and Monument Peak viewsheds.
