"Black Mirror" is the first single by Canadian indie rock band Arcade Fire in the US from their second album Neon Bible (while "Keep the Car Running" is the first in the UK).
The single was first announced by the band on January 19, 2007 and was streamed on their official website under "Win's Scrapbook". It was released three days later on January 22 under Merge Records.
The song reached #1 on CBC Radio 3's R3-30 chart the week of March 22, 2007. It retained the number one spot for five weeks, becoming the first song in the history of that chart to spend more than two weeks at #1. It also held the status of the longest-running #1 song on that chart until December 13, 2007, when The Weakerthans' "Civil Twilight" tied its five-week run.
A music video[1] for Black Mirror has been made by Olivier Groulx[2] and Tracy Maurice, who is also responsible for the art direction on Neon Bible and Funeral[3]. The interactive version, which allows the viewer to trigger instruments on or off, is the work of Vincent Morisset.[4]
