Black Hen Music, of Vancouver, British Columbia, is an independent record label founded in 1995 by record producer and musician Steve Dawson, originally of the band, Zubot and Dawson. Black Hen Music began releasing albums in 1996 and is currently distributed in Canada by Koch Distribution, and in Europe and the UK by Rounder Records.
Black Hen is dedicated to producing music that is diverse, eclectic and primarily acoustic-based. Since its inception, Black Hen has released over 30 albums and continues to expand its roster.
