Black Drin

Black Drin (Albanian: Drini i Zi, meaning the black deer; Macedonian: Црн Дрим, Latinic: Crn Drim) is a river in the Republic of Macedonia and Albania. It flows out of Lake Ohrid in Struga, Macedonia. After approximately 50 kilometres it crosses the border to Albania, west of Debar. It merges with the White Drin in Kukës to form the Drin, which flows into the Adriatic Sea. It drains most of the eastern border region of Albania, including the three eastern lakes that Albania shares with its neighboring countries (Lake Ohrid and the Prespa lakes), and the streams that flow into them.

This part of Albania, is in fact, an agricultural-based site. Until 1990s the fauna was much more evolved than today, but a progress is now seen. The main environmental cultures are corn and barley, but the tree-culture is evolving. The Ohrid trout (Salmo letnica), can also be found in parts of ths river from time to time. It is also to be noted that the Black Drini Valley is a very poor region of Albania which needs many kinds of support.

Many kids would go to swim in this river because northern Albanians were a bit too far away from the sea. But, being a river, the River Drini has in fact drowned many experienced swimmers since their curiosity to dive deep caused them to drown by the shifting of the underwater rocks or mud above the swimmers. The The Ohrid trout is also fished in parts of the river during a good year.
