The Black Curassow (Crax alector) is a species of bird in the Cracidae family, the chachalacas, guans, and curassows. It is found in northern South America in the Guianas of Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana; also Venezuela, Colombia and northern regions of the Amazon Basin of Brazil. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montanes.
