Sarah Vaughan charted with this song in 1949 on Columbia. Peggy Lee first released her version in 1953. Other versions of it were performed by Martina Topley-Bird and Tricky on the Nearly God album, kd lang on the album Shadowland and by Sinéad O'Connor on the Am I Not Your Girl? album.
