Black Cats is the name of an Iranian pop music band founded by Shahbal Shabpareh.
The most famous and successful members were Pyruz and David (1992- 1999). Kamran and Hooman (1999-2004) were also very successful. Once the two brothers split with the Black Cats, they went on their own together and have become very successful. They have released two albums, the second one of which has only a couple of new songs with the rest of the album being remixes of songs from their first album. Although the members have changed every couple years Shahbal has always been in the band. His brother, Shahram Shabpareh, is also a successful singer who used to be in a band with two other Persian greats Ebi and Shahrokh. The Black Cats are still active and have a fairly new album Scream Of The Cats. They recently did a two night concert on a Carnival Cruise Lines trip to Encenada, Mexico, as part of an event featuring a popular Persian socioligist who has a program on Los Angeles' 670 AM radio station. Initially, Kamyar, the newest lead singer of the band who is featured in "Scream of the Cats", was a singles soul singer from France. However, after inspiration from Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson, Kamyar immigrated to the USA and joined the band to further pursue his goal.He plans to go solo again in August of 2008, resulting in a new member(s) of the band soon.
