Black & Blue Ball

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Black & Blue Ball is Canada’s longest running pan-sexual fetish event. The Black & Blue Ball began as the public events committee of the Prairie Caller Magazine. The Ball was founded in Winnipeg during August of 1996, by Bryan Johnson, Richard Payne, Sir B&D, Naughty Nymph, Gram, and Bunny Love. The Prairie Caller Magazine stopped publishing in March 2000, but the Black & Blue Ball has continued. The Black & Blue Ball is now produced 6 times per year. The Ball features full bar service, dancing, a professional DJ, live entertainment, sexually oriented trade tables, a monitored public dungeon, and a printed program containing local alternative lifestyle resources.

The Black & Blue Ball’s pan-sexual focus has made it Winnipeg’s meeting place where all the fetishes come together. The Ball has taken an active role in helping local fetish organizations and events form and grow. As such the Ball has been involved, either directly or indirectly, with the formation of many of the key fetish organizations in Winnipeg. To these ends the Black & Blue Ball compiles, prints and circulates hard copy as well as maintains online versions the Kinky Manitoba Resource Guide. The Ball maintains a web site which includes educational materials, an email discussion group, a discussion forum, a calendar of fetish community events, as well as lighter reading such as a fashion column, book reviews, and a poster gallery. Every June, the Black & Blue Ball raises funds for a local AIDS organization Nine Circles Community Health Clinic.
