Description

Diagram of Mk I shrapnel shell for British BL 2.75 inch mountain gun.
Length 9.65 inches, diameter 2.73 inches. Weight filled & fuzed 12.5 lbs.
Shell is of the modern design with 2 inch fuze hole, separate base which screws in, bursting charge is of compressed powder pellets.
Body and base of forged steel.
Contains 253 balls, 41/lb.
Central tube contains powder pellets to increase angle of opening on release of bullets.
