From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I am a postdoc in mathematical biology at the University of Bristol in Bristol, UK. I am working on population modelling for bacteria and phage populations, in vitro and in vivo. I have a background in probability and stochastic processes. My main interests are in applications of mathematics to biological and other 'complex' systems.

My personal and professional web site can be found here:

It includes a summary of my research interests and published and submitted papers.

[edit] Contributions

I have been, and will probably continue to be, a little quiet on the Wikipedia lately, but my past contributions include:

WikiProject Probability, WikiProject Mathematics, WikiProject Mathematics/PlanetMath Exchange.
  • New contributions to:
Ross River virus, Phase diagrams of the logistic map (small, large), Constant random variable, Laplace-Stieltjes transform, applied probability, Lebesgue-Stieltjes integration, Fatou's lemma, probability generating functions, Markov's inequality, Abel's theorem and population processes.
  • Significant contributions to existing articles:
Logistic map, Probability mass function, Convergence of random variables, Markov property.

[edit] .plan

In lieu of a real .plan file, I'll just state my plan!

No plans! Unfortunately I find myself too busy these days to do much, but I am a daily user of the Wikipedia for both research and general interest.

[edit] Copyrights

Licensing rights granted to Wikimedia Foundation
I grant non-exclusive permission for the Wikimedia Foundation Inc. to relicense my text contributions under any copyleft license that it chooses, provided it maintains the free and open spirit of the GFDL. This permission acknowledges that future licensing needs of the Wikimedia projects may need adapting in unforeseen fashions to facilitate other uses, formats, and locations. It is given for as long as this banner remains.

For the moment, while the GFDL remains the sole official license under which the Wikipedia is released, I choose not to multi-license my contributions. Above all, I think that it is important to have a common approach to copyright issues.
