Talk:Bjarni Herjólfsson
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Was he really the first one? There are some Ogham runes found in America that seem to be of Irish origin. They date back to around 600. See http://www.islandnet.com/~edonon/horse.html . -- Yes, Bjarni was the first viking to find north america, although he didnt land there, he and his crew sailed along newfoundlands coast.
"This is the first known attempt at settlement by Europeans in the Americas." Well, no. Greenland is part of America, too, and there were already settlements there. --Palnatoke 20:52, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I suggest remove Viking settlement, since it was only a settlement, not a wiking settlement.
