[edit] Mr 60%
Regarding the nickname "Mr. 60%" and "The earliest mention of the nickname can be traced to interviews with riders of Festina in 1998-2000", I believe I read about this nickname earlier than 1998 in an issue of Cycle Sport magazine (http://www.cyclesport.co.uk/)
I no longer hold any back issues so I can't give an exact issue number, but if someone does have old copies around and wants to flip through them, keep an eye out for this.
