If www.bitonto.net characterizes the derivation of Bitonto as obscure, then we needn't retain the following effort: The name of the city allegedly dervies from the Illyrian King, Botto. According to other theories, the name stems from the Latin bonum tonum. --Wetman 21:44, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
