Bitterant

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A bitterant is a chemical that is added to a product to make it smell or taste bad. The main purpose of bitterants is to prevent people from poisoning themselves from the inhalation and/or ingestion of odorless and/or tasteless toxic chemicals.

An example of the use of a "bitterant" is in gas duster cans for computers, electronics etc. The label on one of the cans reads, "Contains a bitterant to help discourage inhalant abuse." These chemicals are usually harmful to the body.
