The Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, Sathyamangalam was founded by Dr. S.V. Balasubramaniam in 1996.[citation needed] The college lies besides the bavani river with the Western Ghats as the backdrop. The college runs under the leadership of its director Dr. S K Sundararaman and Principal Dr.A. Shanmugam
CAMPUS
Nestled on the banks of the river Bhavani, BIT's campus provides the right environment for natural learning in harmony with nature, away from the odds of city life. The spacious and the earth hugging buildings punctuated with landscaped courtyards and pathways are designed to emphasize the business ethics and character of an excellent center for learning. The campus hosts well planned academic blocks, computer centers, lecture halls libraries, laboratories, conference halls, staff quarters, hostel and students' centres. The campus also comprises a co-operative store, a bank with ATM and a clinic to attend to the general health of the students and staff. Adequate transport facilities are provided in the campus. BIT has the feel of a friendly hamlet while offering all the benefits of a citadel of learning.

Hands-on-Training
Bannari Amman Institute of Technology is backed by the large business conglomerate of Bannari Amman Group (www.bannari.com) which has expertise in various sectors like sugar, distillery, textiles, garments, agro-products, finance, automobile, transport etc. The close proximity with the group enables easy access to their industrial units, located close to the Institute. The students thus have the benefit of familiarizing with industrial procedures and functions and get hands-on experience.
The Institute is developing an industry liaison cell that will enable effective interaction with the industry.

Our HR wing supports the achievements of students, staff and caters to the organisational success by providing effective and equitable services which contribute to quality learning.The HR department aims at integrating the use of training and development to improve individual, group, and organisational effectiveness.The department is committed in attracting and selecting a talented workforce and has helped to retain a pool of experienced staff.
Personality Development Club : The aim of the Personality Development Club (PDC) is to develop all-round skills of every BITians that they can get into a hi-flying career. The club acts as a common roof for each individual to develop skills, inter-personal relationships, and to gain adequate corporate exposure. Carrer Guidance, Mock Interviews and Paper Presentation Tips, Stress Management, Time Management, Self-Evaluation and Development and Memory Management are some of the activities of the club.
Literary and Debating Society : The Literary and Debating Society (LDS) with the motto 'En Route to Stay Ahead' aims to tap the innate talent of the budding architects of modern India. LDS encourages and appreciates their literary efforts and evolves them into confident adults, well-equipped to face the stark realities of life.The Society helps to quench the students thirst for literary activities and provides them with a good platform to interact with their peers and hone their communication skills.
Music Club : The Music Club of the college aims to unleash the multi-faceted talents of the students by perfecting their musical abilities. The Club houses a wide variety of wind, string and percussion instruments like saxophone, guitar, keyboard, tabala, rhythm pad, drums, etc. The students are permitted to use the facilities throughout the week under faculty supervision.
Fine Arts Club : The aim of the Fine arts club is to tap the latent talents of ebullient yout and to develop students' skills in areas such as drawing, painting, clay modelling, thermocoal designing, soap sculpture, chalk carving, worth from waste etc. Activities of the club are tailored to develop students' creativity and lateral thinking. The students are encouraged to participate in inter-collegiate and intra-college competitions through this club.
Green Eco : Green Eco, the nature club of BIT, fosters and encourages eco-friendly behaviour among students, faculty and staff. It aids in the implementation of eci-friendly approaches to on-campus environmental issues. It also organises on-campus seminars and presentations on environmental and ecological issues regularly.
Entrepreneurship Development Cell : The Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India, has identified BIT as a centre for Entrepreneurship Development Cell and has offered Rs. 45 lakhs for a period of five years from the academic year 2002-03.
The Rotaract Club : The Rotaract Club of BIT is doing a commendable job by instilling in the youth the spirit of service above self. The club has handled a number of projects both within and outside the campus.Our club is regarded as one of the most socially-conscious organisations in Tamil Nadu. What's more, this five-year old club is now riding high with its innovative projects and pioneering community service.
National Service Scheme : The NSS cell at BIT is very active and consists of dedicated students and staff members, who have been conducting various social, economic, health and scientific programmes for the benefit of society. These activities include literacy drive, child and mother health programmes, environmental cleanliness programmes, social forestry, mass immunisation, national savings programme, etc. These activities are conducted in nearby villages which have greatly benefitted from the energy and passion of our young volunteers.
National Cadet Corps : The National Cadet Corps (NCC) unit of Bannari Amman Institute of Technology was instituted in the year 1999. The military training imparted to the cadets is received enthusiastically by the cadets. Apart from regular NCC activities, the cadets are also involved in social service activities like blood donation, tree planting, road safety programmes, communal harmony propotions, etc.
Students' Centre : There are two Students' Centre - one for the gents and other for the ladies, which have facilities for several indoor and outdoor games. The centres also have an entertainment hall with a movie projector and large screen television sets and reading rooms. The spacious and modern kitchnes with steam cooking, dish wahing machines and cold storage provide healthy and nutritious food. The large dining hall can seat about 1000 students.
Yoga Centre : An air-conditioned yoga centre has been specially designed with a capacity to accommodate 200 members in order to open up different dimensions of the students' personality. Keeping this in view, programmes like the Art of Living, Simplified Kundalini Yoga, Meditation etc. are being organised regularly. Apart from this, yoga classes are conducted on all mornings and evenings regularly for the benefit of the students and staff.
Staff Quarters : 80 full-furnished quarters are available within the campus for the benefit of the staff members.
Medical Centre : A well-equipped mediacal centre with two doctors is available round-the-clock for the benefit of the students and staff members of the Insititute.
Residential Facilities : Hostels at Bannari Amman Institute of Technology are built with comfort in mind and with due provisions for future expansion. There are separate hostels for gents and ladies. Strict hygienic conditions are maintained in the kitchen and dining halls.
At present about 85% of BIT's students are in the hostels... and they are enjoying every bit of their hostel life.
