I'm a native Finn, and I spend much time in the Internet. I'm an active webmaster. If you recognize my handle from somewhere, it's most likely related to some of these projects:

As for Wikipedia ― I sometimes edit articles when I see something that needs a little edit. I mostly do minor edits. I've contributed example code to several pages, such as Lanczos resampling and Boyer–Moore string search algorithm. I have yet to start a new article. I am an advocate of free software, and to me, a Wiki is a natural extension of those freedoms. I like to participate in community projects without involvements.

I enjoy reading source code. My favourite source code is that of the game Star Control 2.

[edit] Console games

I like console game… music.

Yes, the music I listen to mostly consists of soundtracks of various games ― mostly NES and SNES games. Music of the old games is the thing that most securely attaches my mind to the NES era.

That being said, I also like my pet project started in 2003 ― the website specializing in tool-assisted speedruns of classic console games: TASvideos.

Pre-1992, I played some NES games a lot. In 1992 when I began using computers (for programming), I forgot about games (mostly), but in 2003, the idea of a novel way of playing the games ― tool-assistance ― led me to explore ways to perform beautiful feats in NES games. Soon the members of the newly started community started finding and abusing glitches in the classic games, and this made it even more interesting. I enjoy the view to the game programming it gives.

[edit] Language

In 2001, various things (mostly Pokémon, and hence, anime) lead me to study the Japanese language. It's a hobby for me. I'm a quick learner, but I'm lazy to study. Thus, I have some basic understanding of the language and ability to form sentences, but nowhere near enough to participate in complex discussions. I'm still studying.

One way for me to learn was to create a website full of tools to aid in learning. Thus http://kanjidict.stc.cx/ was born. It is currently the primary Japanese dictionary site I use.

I've also studied Toki Pona and Lojban a bit. Applying artificial languages in an AI/RPG project is one of my ambitions.
