[edit] Merger proposal Bispham High School Arts College into here
It has been proposed, by a user whose sole purpose on wikipedia, certainly when considering their username, and contributions so far -User:Notability Crusader appears to be suggest that articles that they do not consider notable are merged into others. For instance in this case, the proposal is to merge Bispham High School Arts College into this article. Although having said that, Notability Crusaders link to here wasn't correct. I am mentioning this on here also, and including below for information the message I have left on the talk page Talk:Bispham High School Arts College. Thanks
Strongly disagree. This school appears to have been picked at random based solely on it being mentioned on WP:Schools because it had been vandalised, presumably by school pupils. I have worked on this page for some time now to ensure any vandalism is quickly removed, and to start improving the article so that is well written and more comprehensive. And also intend to maintain the article as it is in my Watchlist so any vandalism will be quickly removed. Having said that, there has been very little vandalism of this article recently. ♦Tangerines BFC ♦·Talk 16:02, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
Comment I would also refer to these general comments made on other pages -
Firstly, on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Schools under vandalism,
"Probably the biggest problem in school notability is that the vast majority of schools are quite important to a few hundred or a few thousand people... and of no interest whatsoever to the rest of the world. I guess that if I had to draw a line around "worthy" schools, it would be a pragmatic one based on whether there are people who are interested enough to write about them and maintain the articles. I'm happy to keep well-written and well-maintained articles about schools that are otherwise completely un-noteworthy - I don't think that they detract from the value of the encyclopedia, and if they make the few people who are interested happy, great; maybe they will move on to more notable topics. Secondly, on the proposers own Talk page, User talk:Notability Crusader, in response to the mass proposals made today, part of a reply was,
"the vast majority of the articles you are noting for merger are covered by numerous long established guidelines and precedents. The way to change these is through a much wider debate than that found on an article's talk pages. Nuttah68 06:56, 8 April 2007 (UTC)"
All these merger proposals today, including this one, are all solely based on one personal opinion and crusade about what wikipedia should and should not be. ♦Tangerines BFC ♦·Talk 16:23, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
Adding my weight to the consensus not to merge, I am going to remove the merge tag. -- Drappel 10:45, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
