I thought the Bishop in Bishopstone (Bucks) referred to the Bishop of Bayeux. I remember reading (somewhere) that the Bishop owned a large amount of land south of Stone, and hence it was known as "Bishop's Stone".

Perhaps it was Odo of Bayeux. His topic states:
"During this time Odo acquired vast estates in England, larger in extent than any one except the king's. He had land in 23 counties, primarily in the southeast and in East Anglia"
