From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Bishops of Glasgow were one of the most important clerics in the medieval Scottish Church. After the elevation of the see to archiepiscopal status in 1492, they became Archbshops of Glasgow. The office existed until the Scottish Reformation, and even then continued in a nominal form, although no longer as part of the Catholic Church. The Archbishopric of Glasgow was ressurected by the Papacy in the 19th century.
