The school is set in twenty acres of land adjacent to Windsor Great Park.[2] It is classed as an IAPS Preparatory School.[3]

The school stands on the site of the former prepartory boys school: Scaitcliffe. Bishopsgate school was formed by the merging of Scaitcliffe and Virginia Water girls preparatory school in 1996. There are 300 students with 12 boarders.

The age range is 2 years old to 13 years old.[4] The headmaster is Andrew Cowell.

The school's gross income for the fiscal year ending August 2006 was £2.7 million.[5], of which 1.58 million was spent on the 47 teachers and 16 other staff.[6].

A notable former pupil is Richard Branson founder of Virgin.

[edit] Royal openings

As one of the oldest prep schools in England, the royal family has several times visited. The Duke of York opened the Jubilee Building (years 3 to 8) in 2003[7], and the Windsor Building(pre-prep) in 2006[8].
