Bishopbriggs Academy, is a secondary school in the town of Bishopbriggs, in the district of East Dunbartonshire. Bishopbriggs Academy is a non-denominational, co-educational, comprehensive school taking pupils from S1 to S6.
The school was established in 2006 as a result of Bishopbriggs High School near Bishopbriggs Cross, and Thomas Muir High School amalgamating. The new school is affiliated to the five local non-denominational primary schools: Auchinairn, Woodhill, Wester Cleddens, Balmuildy and Meadowburn. The two antecedent secondary schools were originally established to meet local demand during Bishopbriggs' housing boom beginning in the 1960's. Bishopbriggs High School opened in 1965, replacing the previous school, which became the town Library, and Thomas Muir High School later opened in 1975, to serve the expanding Woodhill area of the town. Bishopbriggs High School and Thomas Muir High merged as part of a £100million PPP plan to build six new secondary schools in East Dunbartonshire. The school is currently housed in the former buildings of Bishopbriggs High School but will ultimately move to a completely rebuilt school on the site of the former Thomas Muir High School in Wester Cleddens Road.
