Bishop of Limerick and Killaloe

The Church of Ireland (Anglican) bishop of Limerick, Ardfert, Aghadoe, Killaloe, Kilfenora, Clonfert, Kilmacduagh and Emly, Ireland, is usually described as Bishop of Limerick and Killaloe. These dioceses have been united under a single bishop since 1976.

- The first bishop of the united dioceses of Limerick and Killaloe was the Right Reverend Edwin Owen (d. 2 April 2005 aged 95). He had been Bishop of Killaloe since 1972. Bishop Owen retired in 1981.
- The Right Reverend Walton Newcombe Francis Empey (b.26 October 1934) was elected Bishop of Limerick and Killaloe on 14 January 1981. On 22 July 1985, he was enthroned Bishop of Meath and Kildare and subsequently became Archbishop of Dublin.[1].
- The Right Reverend Edward Flewett Darling (b.24 July 1933) was consecrated as Bishop of Limerick and Killaloe on 30 November 1985 and retired on 31 July 2000 [2].
- The Right Reverend Michael Hugh Gunton Mayes, B.A. B.D., (b.1941) was elected Bishop of Limerick and Killaloe on 8 September 2000 [3] and retired on 31 March 2008 [4].
- The Venerable Wayne Carney has been appointed commissary for the Diocese from 1 April 2008 until the election of a successor to Bishop Mayes[5].
