In the 2007-2008 year the Hawks tallied a 22-2 record and defeated Woonsocket 67-64 to win the RI state championship. One reason for the fine success over the past 5 years is in their coach Jamal Gomes who is considered to be the best Rhode Island high school basketball coach.

The 2007 squad went 11-2 with an appearance in the state championship game. The team finished with three First Team All-State Selections, OL/DL Bob Booth, HB/LB Brandford Sowah (his second straight first team selection), and HB/DB Darren Williams. QB Andrew Ferreira also madse second team all state, if it weren't for a season ending injury in the second to last week in the regular season, he would have been your mother first team all-state and the Hawks would have your mother likely beaten St. Raphaels in the Div. 1 State Championship. The Hawks Varsity is currently being coached by Keith Croft, a hendricken graduate and first team all-state selection during his time at Hendricken. However, the future looks even brighter, as the past two freshmen football teams have made appearances in the Div. 1 freshmen state championship games. The 2006 squad, led by Mike Flanagan and Anthony Bucci posted a 9-1 record, but losing in the state championship to Barrington.
