Template talk:Birmingham TV

Digital Television (DT) channel numbers are different from the analog channel numbers. What is best way to show these DT channel numbers? Restoring removed Digital Television content until consensus reached on best way to reflect this in the template. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Merbenz (talk • contribs) 18:31, August 16, 2007 (UTC)
- With PSIP, the physical channel numbers aren't as important as the virtual numbers (i.e. the numbers we know today). How about the following as a starting point for discussion? -- Gridlock Joe 01:00, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

- Personally, I oppose it, as, in either fashion, looks cluttered and messy. Also, listing the digitals separately is wasted "real estate" in a Wiki article. Most viewers are more familiar with the analog or cable channel position, and, as mentioned before, with PSIP involved, you don't necessarily need to know the actual digital channel. In my opinion, I say to leave them as is with just the analog channels in the templates (unless they're digital only), an we'll worry more about it come 2009. -- azumanga 03:11, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
- On further review, I agree that it's unwieldy either way, and the best course of action would be to ignore the digital frequency assignments in the templates, and leave it to the individual station articles to handle the physical channel assignments. -- Gridlock Joe 14:06, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
- OK, fine by me. I was interested in having a place to see the FCC assigned digital channel numbers and the intent was to document that in the template. I concur if you guys see no need for that info in the template. Merbenz 21:38, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
