The style of Wikipedia suggests that the definite article The should rarely appear at the start of an article name (Wikipedia:Naming conventions (definite and indefinite articles at beginning of name)). While the formal name of the society is The Birmingham Civic Society this is not the form used on the society's web site, nor on its blue plaques. In ordinary usage the The is dropped. In running text the capitalisation of The looks clumsy. Should the article be renamed to drop the initial definite article? Oosoom Talk to me 09:24, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

Absolutely, per naming conventions. I have moved it back. DWaterson 11:06, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
