[edit] Date of Death

Where is the evidence that she died on 25 December, 1 January, or any other particular date? News reports say she was buried on Wednesday 11 January, but her exact cause and date of death have not been revealed by her family. What do we know that the world at large does not know? "She died on Christmas Day, the Stockholm daily Svenska Dagbladet reported." [1]. Jokestress 23:36, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
The first news reports claimed that Nilsson was buried today (Jan 11) and that she died 10 days ago. At the moment, both Opera News Online and Chicago Tribune claims that DOD is December 25. Thuresson 01:58, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Birgit Nilsson was officially declared dead on Dec.25, 2005. Cause: Kidney failure. However, her husband - Bertil Niklasson - keept her death a secret until shortly after the funeral on Jan. 11, 2006. He didn't want the funeral to be turned into a media circus, and only a handful of close friends attended the cermony.

[edit] IPA pronunciation

The IPA pronunciation under "Overview" is rather strange. What does it refer to - Nilsson's first name in English? If so, why is that needed? UrbanGrill 19:06, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
