[edit] Birds of the Master / Heart of Darkness

Would it be proper to mention that the story of Birds of the Master bears a striking resemblance to Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad?

Examples:

• The entire "journey as a symbol for a exploration into darkness and horror
• The "stations" along the journey are similar (hard working ruthless camp, inefficient camp, surprise attack)
• The river, first as the boat ride, then as following the klaar lines
• Kurtz and the Master are both similar characters of mythical proportions
• The everpresent threat of madness, in BotM symbolized by the birds
• How the master rules through horror without the leash of civilization, yet is fed/created through civilization
• How the main characters carry some of the darkness with them as they leave, in the case of BotM in a very graphical sense
• Several of the character concepts (brave primitives, out of place pilgrims)
