Talk:Bird Girl
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
While researching this, I found disagreement regarding the number of statues that Judson originally cast. The original article, along with a few online resources, said that three statues were made. But other online resources said that four were made. After looking at these, I decided that the ones that claimed four to have been made seem generally more credible, and contain what seems like more complete info. Two of the articles claim to have the figure of four statues come directly from the sculptor's daughter, Alice Hayes. Anyway, here are the resources that I used the most, sorted by how many statues they claim were made (Yup, most of these are the same links I put in the article):
Four statues:
- Site dedicated to The Bird Girl, the most detailed article I found, with quotes from the sculptor's daughter.
- Savannah city web site about the sculpture, book and movie
- Letter by Alice Hayes regarding Bird Girl replicas - apparently the daughter herself.
Three statues:
- Bird Girl info and Sylvia Shaw Judson bio (find the Google cached copy if you don't want to become a member to see the whole article)
- Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil production interview with production designer Henry Bumstead.
- Message board posts with info about Jack Leigh... this one mentions that some reports suggest that there may have been four or even five.
- Savannah Morning News article about Judson
- And of course, the old version of this Wikipedia article (and therefore every Wikipedia-clone on the net).

Uh oh. I found this cover image and just assumed it was the actual cover. But the cover image on Amazon.com looks different. What is this an image of then? Was this an earlier version of the cover? I certainly think the one on Amazon looks a lot better. If anyone has a cover that looks better than this and would like to submit a picture, that would rock. - Eisnel 06:13, 19 Aug 2004 (UTC)
