Birsa Munda Airport (IATA: IXRICAO: VERC) is a public domestic airport serving the city of Ranchi, Jharkhand, India and is managed by the Airports Authority of India. It is located in Hinoo locality, approximately 7 km (4.3 mi) from the centre of the city. BMA used to be a small airport in terms of service, however with the growth of air traffic in India, BMA has also witnessed unprecedented growth in the last 2 years and several budget airlines have added it to their route. As per the records of AAI, around 200,000 passengers use the airport annually making it one of the fastest growing airports in the country. Recently, the government has approved plans to expand the airport and it may soon have an additional runway, a new terminal, few additional taxiways and better passenger facilities.
