Birr Airfield is an airport located in the town of Birr in County Offaly in the Republic of Ireland. It was originally called Birr View Air Strip. The area has always been closely linked with aviation for many years going back to the British Army Strip which was quite near the present field.
The Ormand Flying Club has been in operation at Birr Airfield for over 30 years. The Club is a Registered Training Facility for the new JAR PPL Licence. The airfield boasts one landing strip which is orientated North/South. Please note that runway 07/25 has now been withdrawn from use.
Open to the public.
