Birmingham and Derby Junction Railway Locomotives

The Birmingham and Derby Junction Railway ordered twelve 2-2-2 passenger locomotives in 1838 and two four-coupled goods in 1841 from various makers:

2-2-2 Passenger

All had 12 inch by 18 inch cylinders and 5 foot 6 inch drivers. First to be delivered in 1839 were those from Mather Dixon, with 'Tamworth' being used for the inaugural run.

0-4-2 Goods

These had 5 foot driving wheels.
