The Birla Public School (or Vidya Niketan) is a completely boarding, private school located in Pilani, Rajasthan, India. Founded in 1944, it is a heritage premier institution of India. BPS was founded by well known philanthropist and industrialist GD.Birla with a vision to provide public school education to the children who will be laying foundation for the future of India.
BPS is divided into three separate sections. The Junior section consists of the kindergarten to 4th grades. The Middle section (5th to 8th grade) and Senior section (9th to 12th grade) classes. Through its various extra curricular activities, and emphasis on sports for all round development, the school inculcates strong leadership and excellence qualities in its students.
BPS is one of a handful of schools in India that has its own equestrian program with events like show jumping. The school also has a full size swimming pool. There are five hostels (for middle and senior sections) named after famed Sanskrit scholars/philosophers. The hostels are Kanad, Katyayan, Panini, Patanjali, Vashistha and Vyas. The school is also well known for an all India English debate where two member teams from various top notch schools across the nation participate. The school regularly participates in inter school Science talent competition involving all Pilani schools. Overall, there is an excellent framework to learn and excel in the presence of some very talented peers.
Many of the graduating students end up joining top notch institutes and colleges across the country or join the National Defence Academy.
