Birkenau is a municipality in the Odenwald located in the South of Hesse in Germany. It is part of the district of Kreis Bergstraße (translated: mountain road) and is called "the village of sun dials". This town is in the heart of the Odenwald "Oden's Forrest". The land is hilly, green and dotted with horse farms and forests.
